FIRST CHURCH has considered the words of Jesus Christ and the disciples, and is determined to reach the homeless of downtown Fort Worth through an outreach ministry called "Operation REACH - Reaching, Evangelizing And Caring for the Homeless".
Our staff of volunteers goes to the shelter every Sunday evening at 6:00 to sing, minister and pray with all those who will hear the Word of God.
Once a month we meet at the Church on a Saturday morning, gather up the clothing, blankets, homemade soup, cornbread, other hot food items, cases of bottled water that the community of our Church members and visitors have donated, and head out in the vans to E. Lancaster in downtown Fort Worth. We set up tables, sound systems with music, food and drink and serve the needs of the homeless women, children and men that actually live on the streets.
You can view our Events Calendar here for scheduled meeting times.
If you would like to find out how you can be a part of this ministry, or have any questions for our staff, you can contact us here.
Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV)
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
1 John 3:17 (NIV)
If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
