fyo͞oZHən (noun) the process or result of joining two or more things together to form a single entity or group; for example, the First Church of Fort Worth's Youth ministry.
1 Timothy 4:12 says: “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity”.
The purpose of the Youth Ministry is to bring youth into a closer relationship with Jesus and one another. We will mentor and guide each teen through this time of spiritual formation, and help them and their families adapt the teachings of Jesus, so that they may develop a deeper committed relationship with Jesus. It is through that purpose that our vision is to provide the tools for our youth to explore, expand, and build their faith.
Youth Ministry is Youth and Family based. Youth ministry focuses on the youth and their families and must work to support and strengthen them in every way possible.
Youth Ministry is Bible based. The Bible is the primary source for information about God, Jesus and the main resource of the Christian faith.
Youth Ministry is Disciplining. We seek to bring Youth and their families into a meaningful relationship with Jesus in a way that they are challenged to make a personal, life changing commitment.
Youth Ministry is Relational. Youth Ministry encourages youth to develop a personal relationship with Christ and each other. We strive to build a community of faith by nurturing one another in love and fellowship.
Youth Ministry is Invitational. Our goal is to be inclusive of all youth and their families. We encourage and invite youth to join the youth group at any point during the year.
Youth Ministry Encourages and Develops Youth as Leaders, to create, train and empower the youth to become leaders in not only the youth group, but to take an active role in worship and to participate in the administration of the various ministries of the church.
Because it provides a way for youth to actively participate in the church.
Because it establishes an organization where youth can have fun and fellowship with others their own age.
Because it teaches youth in a creative fashion about Jesus, His church and living as a Christian.
Because it provides a structure around which youth can form their value systems under Christian guidelines.
Because it provides a sense of belonging and develops a Servants mind-set.
Because it provides youth with a constructive outlet for their energy and social growth needs.
Because it assists the church in areas where help is needed.
In short, the purpose of youth ministry at FIRST CHURCH is to equip, prepare, support, and encourage students to live out their faith in Jesus Christ. Our aim is to provide an atmosphere where students can mature spiritually, and grow in a dynamic personal relationship with our Heavenly Father, therefore, becoming followers of Christ.
